Als instellingen prioriteit geven aan gendergelijkheid, houden ze niet alleen fundamentele principes van rechtvaardigheid en mensenrechten hoog, maar benutten ze ook het volledige potentieel van hun diverse studentenpopulatie en docenten. Door de genderongelijkheid op het gebied van inschrijving, retentie, leiderschap en toegang tot middelen aan te pakken, kunnen instellingen voor hoger onderwijs innovatie, creativiteit en uitmuntendheid bevorderen. Bovendien draagt het bevorderen van gendergelijkheid in de academische wereld bij aan bredere maatschappelijke doelen zoals het doorbreken van stereotypen, het bevorderen van sociale rechtvaardigheid en het bouwen aan een rechtvaardigere wereld voor toekomstige generaties.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Volgens het <em>She Figures<\/em>-rapport van 2021 was in 2018 slechts een derde van de onderzoekers in de EU vrouw en waren hun arbeidsomstandigheden inferieur.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Vrouwen zijn nog steeds ondervertegenwoordigd in universitaire bestuursorganen, in de vertegenwoordiging van universiteiten en op verschillende niveaus van universitaire besluitvorming. Traditioneel krijgen kennisgebieden en onderzoeksvelden waar vrouwen in de meerderheid zijn niet dezelfde erkenning als andere, en vakgebieden die zich richten op genderkwesties blijven helemaal buiten de academische erkenning. Studenten zullen een sleutelrol spelen in het project, dat hen niet alleen zal helpen gendergelijkheid beter te begrijpen, maar ook zal bijdragen aan het cre\u00ebren van een meer inclusieve en diverse academische gemeenschap die verandering van binnenuit omarmt.
